This past June our very own Vernon Deas was the keynote speaker for a citywide urban student leadership camp, hosted by Youth For Christ. Over 150 students from all over Oklahoma City attended leadership seminars and put together life goals for their bright futures. Jonathan "B Ave" Kennedy is one of our many volunteers that serve at Project Creative at MCA. Not only is he our in house producer every week, but he is also passionate about impacting this next generation through creative arts mentoring. Recently our very own B Ave won a city-wide hip hop production competition hosted locally here in Oklahoma City. Congratulations B Ave we are proud of you representing Elevate Minds and Project Creative.

We are in the recordings stages of Project Creative, our hip-hop mentorship workshop at MCA. Over the past few weeks these incredible students have composed and worked with hip hop producers to develop their very own hip hop song. Our small group discussions have been amazing!!! We have covered several topics such as hip-hop  and social justice, higher education and it importannce, and last but not least having a voice in this generation.

PROJECT CREATIVE is a creative mentorship paradigm of Elevate Minds led by Vernon Deas. Our heartbeat is to influence urban youths to higher education and success through the creative arts and through creative experiences.

Our pilot program has already launched in one of the premiere creative learning centers for at-risk youth in the state of Oklahoma, Metro Career Academy.  Every Wednesday during the 3rd and 4th hour Projective Creative is in full-effect with educational talks and creative workshops with these incredible students. NEEDS:

1. More amazing volunteers to mentor and build relationships with these talented and gifted students. We currently have a roster of 7 committed volunteers who attend every week at MCA and Seeworth Academy . Our goal is to have a roster of 20+ Project Creative volunteer staff by the end of May. 2. We are needing to raise $6,000 for a portable creative lab for our students which includes: 1 MacBook Pro, Protools Mbox, Akai Midi Control, Canon 7D plus accessories for video/photography labs, and Final Cut Pro for video editing.
